Greg Johansen Teen Leadership Mentor and Ecology Instructor
Greg has worked in elementary education as an Ecology and Gardening teacher, and as a professor of Horticulture at Saddleback Valley Community College. He is currently the Lead Horticulturalist for the City of San Diego in addition to being an outstanding mentor to our teens. Greg holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cal Poly Pomona.
Tracy Salzer Owner and Director of Educational Programs
Before starting WYLD Education, Tracy worked with students in academic, musical, and outdoor capacities for more than 15 years. She began her teaching career after university in private music instruction and has since taught in public, private, and non-profit organizations including the YMCA of Silicon Valley, Irvine Unified School District, and a Waldorf-based school in Laguna Beach, CA where she served as the 6th grade teacher, Field School founding teacher, and String Orchestra instructor from 2012-2017. Her love of the outdoors and the arts has been a lifelong pursuit and WYLD Education is the product of many years of working with youth in the outdoors, performance training, global travel and living abroad, independent research in learning and cognition, and many summers spent sleeping on the dirt and under the stars. Tracy holds a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Performance from Chapman University, and an Advanced Certificate in French Language and Culture from the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne in Paris, France. She completed her CA Preliminary Credential at The University of CA, Irvine, and Clear Credential requirements at California State University, Fullerton. She is a member of the Children and Nature Network, the Association of Experiential and Outdoor Education, and an active participant of the Gurian Institute. In her personal time she enjoys all kinds of travel, taking ballet classes, backpacking, hiking, camping, reading, music, cooking, and learning and seeing new things. .
Alex Trudelle Teen Leadership Mentor and Summer Camp Program Instructor
Alex has worked in outdoor education, teen leadership, and camp programming for more than. a decade. He is currently the Head of Interpretive programs for the CA State Parks of Santa Cruz County, and a trip leader for the CA State Parks Backpacking Association. Alex holds a degree in Recreational Sciences with a focus in Outdoor Education from San Jose State University.
